Using FotoStation stamp to add metadata

The quickest way to apply a template or macro to a selection of files is using the Stamp tool.

Using the stamp tool
Having created a number of macros or templates, you can easily apply it to a selection of files using the Stamp function on the toolbar:

  1. Select the pictures you want to update
  2. Click on the Stamp icon in the toolbar and choose which template or macro you wish to apply.
  3. The metadata is applied to the selected files.

Stamping assets with an XMP file
If you have an XMP file that contains metadata and want to apply that to a selection, click on the Stamp tool and choose Stamp with XMP file. Then locate and select the XMP file you want to apply using the file system dialog and click OK to apply it.

Note: Templates will overwrite the existing content in the fields they add metadata to. If you do not want to risk overwriting existing information, you may want to use conditional macros instead. However, the Stamp function is very useful for quickly applying metadata to files that have no descriptive metadata in the first place. For example, you can use it to add basic information to files you’ve just imported from a memory card.
